Culture and Society: Influencers of Mental Health (COMI)
January 17 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
FreeCulture and Society: Influencers of Mental Health
Mental Illness is not racist, nor does it discriminate yet societal issues have directly contributed to mental illness in minority cultures. It's becoming more and more evident within the landscape of mental health that culture and society are emerging as the primary influencers of acceptance, access to care, and attitudes toward help-seeking behaviors.
Many treatment options are camouflaged within medicine and models not designed to generate positive outcomes in BIPOC communities. Without clearly defined guidance and leadership, society as we know it will continue to descend into an abyss void of compassion.
This presentation will discuss:
1. A Dose of Reality
2. Barriers to Access
3. Changing the Game
