(DALLAS, TX); August 9, 2023 - Mental Health America of Greater Dallas (MHA-Greater Dallas) had a blast at the Mayor’s Back to School Fair on Friday, August 4th! MHA-Greater Dallas participated alongside the Turn To Campaign, the Recovery Resource Council, the Grant Halliburton Foundation, and the Leadership Academy of Creative Arts.
The five organizations hosted activities that emphasized the importance of promoting mental health and reducing the stigma surrounding substance use disorders. The event area featured goal-setting activities, coloring, spinning the wheel for prizes, and interacting with MHA’s newest owl mascot: Heidi the Owl!
Heidi the Owl is the mascot of MHA’s We Help Ourselves program, which teaches kids techniques on how to manage their emotions and maintain positive relationships. Heidi had a wonderful time interacting with kids, parents, and even the Dallas Mavericks mascots!
