SUMMARY:Addiction – The Tipping Point (COMI)
DESCRIPTION:Addiction – The Tipping Point\nAddiction is skyrocketing along with other mental health problems in the post-pandemic world. Available resources to help are dwindling for a variety of reasons and the Peer movement is one of the ways the industry is seeking to combat these trends. \nThere’s a lack of understanding about how common addiction is and how prevalent addictive behaviors are\, not to mention full-blown disease. Understanding how difficult it can be to regain and maintain functional control of life after active addiction is pivotal in being effective at assisting people in recovery. This fundamental misunderstanding contributes to the stigmas that impede recovery in the world overall but also in the mental health community. \nA theme throughout the presentation will be to provide clarity and relatability to the addict\, their suffering\, and their unique challenges so as to enable us all to better provide help. \n \nSpeaker\nJulia Schneider\, Sober Coach\, Recovery Support Peer Specialist\, ARISE Interventionist Intern
